Zone 0 Fire Safety

About Robert

Fire. Forestry. Real estate. Robert has done all three.

Plenty of crews can haul brush away. Very few have fought wildfires, enforced fire codes, managed forests, run a tree company, and helped people buy and sell homes. Robert has done every one of those jobs, and he brings all of it to your property.

Three careers. One person on your property.

30+ years

Fire service

With the Torrance Fire Department, Robert rose to Fire Marshal and Battalion Chief. He has led crews on wildfires across California as a Cal OES Safety Officer, Strike Team Leader, and Task Force Leader.

He knows how homes catch fire, because he's watched it happen, and he knows exactly what inspectors look for, because he was one.

B.S. + ISA

Forestry and trees

Robert earned his degree in Forestry and Natural Resources from Cal Poly, ran his own tree company, and is an ISA Certified Arborist.

He can tell which trees and plants need to go and which can safely stay, and he trims trees so they stay healthy.

His story

  1. 1

    A Southern California kid

Robert grew up in Southern California, surrounded by the canyons and hillsides that he now helps protect.

  2. 2

    Cal Poly and the Sierra

While earning his degree in Forestry and Natural Resources at Cal Poly, he spent his summers on a timber crew in the Sierra Nevada, thinning heavily timbered forest to reduce the fuel load.

  3. 3

    The summer everything changed

Lightning swept through the Sierra and sparked wildfires across the range. Overnight, his timber crew became a fire crew, and Robert found his calling.

  4. 4

    On the fire line

He spent the following summers on a wildland fire crew as the crew's sawyer, cutting fire line with a chainsaw. He also earned a degree in fire science.

  5. 5

    Running a tree company

Before joining the fire department, Robert ran his own tree company for years, learning trees from the ground up.

  6. 6

30+ years in the fire service

Robert joined the Torrance Fire Department rising to the rank of Fire Marshall and Battalion Chief. Previously, he spent many years as a Hazardous Material Specialist on the department.

  7. 7

    Fighting fires statewide

As a Cal OES Safety Officer, Strike Team Leader, and Task Force Leader, he responded to wildfires throughout California, leading crews and keeping them safe.
